Swimming pools

• The entrance fee entitles you to a maximum swimming time of 2 hours (including the time you spend in the changing room). The maximum swimming time at the outdoor pool is three hours (updated July 16, 2025).
• You must be able to swim at least 25 metres without swimming aids if you want to swim in the large pool or the diving pool.
• Swimming aids are only allowed in the teaching and wading pools.
• Teaching and guided activities for more than one person require a booking.
• The use of diving equipment and ball games are not permitted outside the time slots reserved for these activities unless you have special permission from the staff. Swimmers’ training equipment may only be used in the designated swimming lanes.
• All customers use the swimming pool at their own risk and are responsible for their personal belongings. The staff take care of lost and found items.

• Parents are always responsible for their children.
• Persons who cannot swim or are under 10 years old must be accompanied by a person who is 18 or older and able to swim.
• Children aged 7 and older must use the changing and shower rooms designated for their gender.

• Wash yourself thoroughly before entering the sauna or the pool. Take off your swimwear before taking a shower or going to the sauna. Do not take your swimsuit with you to the sauna.
• Wet your hair before entering the pool or use a swimming cap.
• Shaving body hair, dyeing or cutting your hair, and nail and foot care are forbidden.
• You must wear a swimsuit when entering the pool area.
• Do not visit the swimming pool if you have a contagious disease.

• Always follow the staff’s safety instructions and orders.
• When groups, schools and clubs use the swimming pool, an adult (aged over 18) in charge of supervision must be present at all times.
• Diving into the pools is only allowed when authorised by a lifeguard.

• Do not run in the pool or shower areas.
• Noisy and otherwise disturbing behaviour is forbidden.
• Inappropriate behaviour is forbidden.
• The use of and being under the influence of intoxicating substances are forbidden.
• Smoking and the use of snus and chewing gum are forbidden.

• You are not allowed to use mobile devices in the changing rooms or shower or pool areas without the staff’s permission.
• Photography and filming are forbidden without the staff’s permission.

You must follow these rules when visiting the swimming pool.

If you violate these rules or do not follow the instructions or orders given by the staff, you may be removed from the premises and banned from using the swimming pool for a fixed period of time.

Visiting time at the outdoor swimming pool is limited to three hours. Supervisors will actively monitor the situation at the pools and the number of visitors. If the area is full, entry will be restricted by pausing ticket sales.

Children who cannot swim or who are under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a swimming adult guardian. According to the guidelines, children must be supervised in the pool.

Multi-visit wristbands are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Multi-visit wristbands and season products are valid at all Espoo swimming pools and the outdoor swimming pool. You can buy a wristband at an Espoo Info service point or at the swimming pool cash desk (with the exception of the Olari swimming pool).

Multi-visit and season products are added to a wristband, which must be purchased separately. If you already have a swimming pool and gym wristband, the products can be added to it. Users of a +68 Sports Wristband do not need to pay the wristband fee. The wristband fee is only charged when replacing a lost wristband.

The Get Active (‘Liikkeelle’) wristband is a new season product for groups entitled to discounted fees. The wristband costs €66 and is valid for 120 days. You can only buy the wristband at the swimming pool cash desk.

You can use the wristband to visit the city’s indoor and outdoor swimming pools as well as gyms during their independent training hours at certain times and in accordance with the age limits (gym access is available to anyone turning 15 during the current year and older):

• Mon–Fri 6:00–8:00 and 11:00–15:00
• Sat–Sun 18:00–21:00 

Multi-visit and season wristbands are valid at all Espoo swimming pools, including the Leppävaara outdoor swimming pool.

Please note that the use of the pools may sometimes be restricted for safety reasons, for example during severe thunderstorms. No refunds are given in these situations.

• 7–17-year-olds
• Pensioners: You must show a valid pension card or another official document (issued no more than one month earlier) to prove your pensioner status.
• Conscripts with a conscription card, persons doing non-military service, and crisis management veterans with a crisis management veteran’s card
• Unemployed jobseekers: You can prove your unemployment status by showing the home page of Job Market Finland’s E-services, where you can see the validity and start date of your job search, or by showing a separate document signed by the employment authority.
• Students with a student card or certificate of student status
• Special groups: Customers entitled to the special exercise wristband can buy all swimming pool and gym products at discounted prices. Customers entitled to the special swimming wristband can only buy swimming pool products at discounted prices. Check the criteria for the wristbands.

• Under 7-year-old children when accompanied by a paying adult
• Espoo residents who receive a guarantee pension (status must be proven)
• War veterans (a front veteran’s badge or front-line service badge must be presented)
• Users of a +68 Sports Wristband
• Swimming friends of persons with a +68 Sports Wristband, special exercise wristband or special swimming wristband
  • The swimming friend can be, for example, the wristband user’s adult child, another relative or a friend. The swimming friend can also join the wristband user when accompanied by a personal assistant. The benefit does not apply to gyms or guided activities at swimming pools.
• Espoo residents’ informal carers (a payslip must be presented). Read more about free swimming pool and gym visits for informal carers.
• Assistants of persons with disabilities (a visual impairment card or EU Disability Card with the A symbol must be presented).

We primarily recommend card payments. If you pay by cash, we ask that you prefer exact change. This ensures a smooth transaction.

We accept MasterCard and Visa cards, cash, the SmartumPay mobile app, Edenred mobile payment, the Edenred card and Epassi.

The above-mentioned employee benefits cannot be used to pay for discount products. The wristband fee for multi-visit and season products must be paid separately, as employee benefits can only be used to pay for services.

The Olari swimming pool does not have a cash desk. To use the swimming pool, you must have a pre-purchased multi-visit or season wristband.

Through the City of Espoo webshop, you can buy regularly priced multi-visit and season products for swimming pools and gyms.

Please note that you must have a swimming pool wristband and a linked user account and email address before you can buy products online. You can have an account set up at the swimming pool cash desk or at an Espoo Info service point.

You cannot use your sports benefits to pay for your online purchases.

Purchased multi-admission and season products are added to a personal customer account that is linked to a wristband (subject to a fee). You should keep the receipt and/or take a photo of it. The receipt information is needed if you lose or damage your wristband during its validity. The wristband allows you to enter the city’s sports facilities through turnstiles or doors. Multi-admission and season wristbands are personal, and the products (i.e. services) cannot be used by another person. If you want to give your purchased services to another person, you need to visit the swimming pool cash desk.

In exceptional situations, you can request a refund for purchased products by sending an email to rannekkeet.liikunta@espoo.fi. Your message should include the following information: your first and last name, account/wristband ID (number), reasons for an extension or refund, and a receipt or other proof of purchase if necessary. Any refunds will be paid within about two weeks. You must request a refund within one (1) month of the purchase or the start of your exercise ban for medical reasons.

Multi-admission products and 4-month season wristbands for swimming are valid for 120 days from the date of purchase. Special exercise and swimming wristbands and ‘Get Active’ wristbands are valid for one year from the date of purchase. All products, including season wristbands, are valid at all Espoo swimming pools and the outdoor swimming pool.

The validity of a season wristband starts when it is first scanned/used or no later than 90 days after it was purchased.

If your wristband does not work, despite having no external damage, the products in your customer account can be transferred to a new wristband free of charge at the swimming pool cash desk or at city service points.

If your wristband is broken or partially damaged, you must buy a new wristband. All valid products in your customer account can be transferred to your new wristband free of charge.

If you have lost your wristband, you must buy a new one. The lost wristband will be removed from your customer account. All valid products in your customer account can be transferred to your new wristband free of charge. You must have the receipt for the lost wristband or the wristband ID number with you.

If you accidentally bought the wrong product or a wrong product was sold to you, you should buy the product you wanted, and the wrong, unused product will be refunded. You must request a refund by email at rannekkeet.liikunta@espoo.fi within one (1) month of the purchase. If you bought a multi-admission or season product, you must have a receipt or other proof of purchase.

You can request an extension to your wristband’s validity due to an illness or injury lasting more than two weeks. You will need to present a medical certificate indicating your exercise ban or other reliable document. You must request the extension within one (1) month of receiving the medical certificate.

1. Maximum extension
   • The validity of a wristband can be extended by a maximum of 2 months, irrespective of the duration of the illness or injury.
2. One extension only
   • You can only request an extension once per product. You cannot request another extension if your illness/injury lasts longer.
3. Time limit
   • An extension can only be requested for an uninterrupted exercise ban period, not several shorter periods.
4. Product-specific limit
   • If the product is valid for one year, the maximum extension is 2 months, not a year.

If unused products on your wristband expire, they will not be refunded.

If you move to another municipality and no longer use your wristband, purchased products will not be refunded.

If your customer group changes and you have more expensive products on your wristband, the products will not be refunded. You can use the products until they run out.

Customers are not entitled to refunds or extensions when our facilities are closed.

We organize women-only hours at the Keski-Espoo swimming pool. Women and girls of all ages are welcome to participate.
