New podcast episodes on growth and learning support
Kilo is developing a new model of well-being at work that will also be implemented in other schools. An example of the topic is available in our ‘Tukevaa puhetta’ podcast series, focusing on supporting growth and learning.
In the spring, new podcast episodes were released with the following themes:
- Multilingual student’s learning and language awareness
- Information and communications technology (ICT) in supporting learning
- The KILO model and teachers’ well-being at work
- Teaching outdoors
In the podcasts, teachers Taina Ek, Johannes Ruoho and Mirka Tuulisaari, who are involved in developing teaching support, discuss topics related to the school world with expert guests from Espoo. You can listen to the episodes on SoundCloud or Spotify.

See the Good! and the City of Espoo to continue cooperation during the school year 2023–2024
See the Good! and the City of Espoo will continue cooperating to help identify and develop pupils’ strengths in the school year 2023–2024.
The See the good! programme aims to enhance teacher and family resources, promote positive interaction between the children and adults, support the growth of individual pupils’ personalities through their strengths and improve cooperation between home and school to strengthen mental well-being.
All families with a 1st or 2nd grader will receive an invitation to a See the Good! webinar. The webinars are organised in three languages. The schedule and invitation will be sent via Wilma.
In August, Growth and Learning Sector will release a short animated video aimed at all pre-primary and upper-secondary school pupils and students to help prevent and stop bullying.
An amendment to the law, which already entered into force on 1 August 2022, requires immediate intervention by both adults and friends at schools. No one is allowed to bully or discriminate against anyone. For more information, visit the EDUFI website(external link, opens in a new window).
The video includes ideas from Espoo pupils and students on how to make schools a safe and nice place for everyone.
Sustainable development and eco-social education as part of learning
Sustainable development is an integral part of pupils’ and students’ lives. Senior Planning Officer Piritta Honkanen says it is important to encourage pupils to reflect on how eco-social education can be reinforced from the perspectives of equality, fair treatment and a sustainable lifestyle. Read how the annual plan describes sustainable development in basic education and more about the topic.
