Sustainable Future Districts
The Sustainable Future Districts project develops new innovative solutions and services for urban environment which make both daily life and business more sustainable. The project is built on collaboration, courage and new ideas. At the same time, we are accelerating the progress of Espoo’s sustainable development goals and achieving carbon-neutrality in a growing city.
The Sustainable Future Districts project offers experimental and development environments for climate-neutral and sustainable urban solutions as well as green transition business and research. The project’s main development environment is Kera but Leppävaara, Espoon keskus, Kivenlahti, Keilaniemi, Finnoo and Viiskorpi are also included. Each district’s unique aspects will be respected.
In the project, solutions will be developed within four urban environment themes: clean energy, low-carbon construction and circular economy, sustainable transport and nature-based solutions. These themes are promoted through, for example, experiments, competitions and pilots to create new sustainable solutions and innovations in the city.
The project runs from 1/4/2023–31/3/2026.
