Espoo offers extensive opportunities for exercise – for free!

People often feel like taking up a new hobby in the autumn. It is especially easy to start a hobby if it is free of charge. The City of Espoo’s Sports and Exercise Unit offers a wide range of free options.
Outdoor gyms
Espoo’s outdoor gyms are well suited for anyone irrespective of their level of fitness, and they feature a wide range of equipment. For example, the Keski-Espoo sports park includes pull-up equipment, a dip bar, a leg and chest press, and an abdominal and back muscle machine. The outdoor gyms are free of charge and open 24 hours a day all year round. Outdoor gyms
Neighbourhood sports areas
The neighbourhood sports areas are versatile and exciting sports facilities that are available to all Espoo residents for free. Perhaps you would like to try the agility and balance course at Auroran koulu, panna football at Jalavapuiston koulu or outdoor table tennis at the Tapiola residents’ park. Neighbourhood sports areas
Workout stairs
Stair workouts are effective and if you do them regularly, you will achieve results quickly. We recommend that you gradually increase your pace and the number of repetitions. Workout stairs
Disc golf courses
Disc golf is a fun activity that allows you to practice your accuracy while spending time outdoors. In Espoo, we have a variety of disc golf courses, for example in Laaksolahti and in the Espoonlahti sports park. Disc golf courses

Espoo offers excellent facilities for basketball. There are basketball courts in sports parks, residents’ parks and school yards. Basketball courts
Fixed orienteering points
Orienteering offers adventures, experiences and exercise in local nature. Espoo’s fixed control points are located in both easy and more challenging places. All control points have been fixed to a tree and are equipped with reflectors so they are also well suited for night orienteering. By choosing suitable control points, you can plan a course that suits your schedule and skill level. You can access the islands by scheduled archipelago boats. The fixed control points were updated during the summer of 2022 (the control points on the Stora Herrö island are from 2021). Fixed orienteering points
