The challenge engine for citiescollects, shapes and prioritises the future development challenges of cities in an open process, creating an agile co-creation model in which companies and other stakeholders can contribute to exploring and solving challenges – while developing their own (business) operations. Concrete goals of the project and challenge engine as well as indicators monitoring their implementation are listed below:

• The first goal of the project is to launch the challenge engine as a useful part of operations.
• The second goal is to have the operations of the challenge engine generate new or innovatively applied solution concepts that can create better revenue for their developers.
• The third goal of the project is to increase companies’ satisfaction with their cooperation with cities. Satisfaction is measured through NPS surveys, as well as feedback and cooperation proposals.
• The fourth goal is the challenge engine leading to new cooperation projects and project applications between cities, companies and universities, combining cities’ development and testing environments and harmonising cities’ operating models.
• The fifth objective is the scaling of the challenge engine to other cities and internationally. This is expected to be started during the project.
