eVaka e-service for early childhood education

eVaka is a client and information system used by the City of Espoo's early childhood education units. Through eVaka, guardians can apply for places in early childhood education, pre-primary education, and early childhood education's clubs. Guardians and the staff in early childhood education can use the system to communicate and stay in touch securely. In eVaka's calendar, guardians can also schedule their child's attendance times and report absences.
In addition to the features visible to guardians, eVaka also includes functionalities that help guide and plan the activities of day care centres. It is a comprehensive system that is used to process client information, early childhood education fees, and decision-making among other things.
Espoo's eVaka is an open-source system that is being developed together with the cities of Tampere, Oulu and Turku.

Frequently asked questions about eVaka
- To register for eVaka in your browser, go to: https://espoonvarhaiskasvatus.fi(external link, opens in a new window)
- You can always log in to the system with strong authentication.
- The child’s legal guardian(s) can always log in to the system with strong authentication. You can also create an account in the system by choosing “Enable email login” from “Personal information”.
1. Sign in to eVaka with strong authentication.
2. Select "Personal information"
3. Select ”Change password”.
4. Pay attention to password requirements.
- You can access and edit your personal data in eVaka, which requires you to authenticate using your online banking credentials or mobile certificate
- Click on the dot next to your name in the top bar and select "My details"
- In the "My details" section you can add or change: Your Telephone number and E-mail address
- Click “Edit”.and make the necessary additions
- Once you are finished, click “Save”.

2. If you cannot find an answer here, please send an e-mail to the address evakatuki (at) espoo. You can always log in to the system with strong authentication. You can also use this route to read messages and book attendance.
eVaka works in your browser. To make it easier, you can create a bookmark on your phone’s home screen that acts as a shortcut.
- You can report your child as being sick or mark another kind of absence (e.g. a day off) in the eVaka calendar.

The system only sends guardian messages to the child’s legal guardian. In exceptional cases, the sending of messages can be agreed separately with the head of the early childhood education unit and with the staff of the child’s group.

In eVaka, all children under 18 years old for whom you are the official guardian are displayed. The guardian information comes directly from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV). If you have completed all guardianship-related actions with DVV, there might be a delay in the synchronization of the information. You can inquire about the progress of the process directly from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
In eVaka, you can apply for an early childhood education place for your child, submit a pre-primary or club application, communicate with the day care centre, and book attendance times or report absences.
