Winter swimming spots

Espoo has 11 winter swimming spots. All winter swimming spots are available to everyone. The changing rooms are maintained by the City of Espoo or local winter swimming clubs and associations. Changes in the use of City of Espoo's changing rooms at winter swimming sites from 1 September 2026: A wristband was introduced for the changing room of the Westend winter swimming site in January 2026. A similar wristband is already in use at indoor swimming pools. The winter swimming wristband will be introduced at all winter swimming sites in Espoo from 1 September 2026. With the winter swimming wristband, you can use all city-maintained heated changing rooms at winter swimming sites. The winter swimming wristband costs 30 euros. The wristband is valid throughout the winter swimming season (from September to the end of May). You can download the product to the same wristband as the multi-visit products for indoor swimming pools and gyms. The new wristband costs 10 euros. You do not need to purchase a separate wristband if you already have a wristband for the multi-visits products for indoor swimming pools or gyms. To use the changing rooms, you must purchase the wristband at a City of Espoo indoor swimming pool. The lock of the changing room door opens with the winter swimming product downloaded to the wristband. The door lock is active between 5:00 and 24:00. From 1 September 2026, you can only enter the changing rooms with a wristband. As a rule, the door codes used until now have worked well but vandalism and misuse of the changing rooms have increased. Supervised access control will enhance customer safety. The decision was made by the City of Espoo's Sports and Wellbeing Committee at its meeting on 23 April 2026 when the committee reviewed the fees for sports and physical activities. The changes in the fees have been prompted by the need to boost the City of Espoo's fee revenue targets. Some winter swimming spots have privately operated saunas that can be used for a fee. Winter swimming season starts 1 September 2026 and ends 30 May 2027. The changing rooms are locked during summer and opened up again 1 September.
