Natural sites in Leppävaara

Monikonpuro is among the most beautiful running waters in Espoo. The brook is also ecologically diverse, and the endangered sea trout swims upstream in it in order to spawn. The gorgeous oak tree avenue in Kilo is reminiscent of the manor culture of the past.

The oak tree of the Edelfelt villa, about 20 metres high and almost 4.5 metres in circumference, was preserved as a natural monument in 1986. With impressive branches, the tree has a crown width of approximately 20 metres. The oak is estimated to be at least 300 years old, and it is one of the oldest trees in Espoo.Photo: Jussi Helimäki
