Natural sites in Espoonlahti

One of the area’s specialities is the purple shell deposit located in the Bergö-Ramsö nature reserve. Another good excursion destination is the Hanikka nature trail, along which you will find, for example, Kaitalahti with its valuable birdlife and the ancient shoreline of Soukka.

The Suomenoja boulder, which is about five metres high and one of the largest in Espoo, is composed of rapakivi granite. Protected as a natural monument in 1986, the boulder has a cave-like cavity underneath.Photo: Jussi Helimäki
The 3.5-kilometre Hannusmetsä nature trail is located between Lake Hannusjärvi and Länsiväylä. There are a number of geological sites along the trail. On Bondasbergen, there is a devil’s field from the age of the Littorina Sea and a rapakivi boulder nearly two metres high.Photo: Jussi Helimäki
