Nurmilinnunpuisto park

ParksLeppävaara

The city of Espoo has started composing a park plan for the Nurmilinnunpuisto in Karakallio. The Technical Services Committee approved the plans on 13 September 2023.

The aim is to establish new play and exercise related activities in the park and make it more agreeable and functional. The old playground will be demolished completely.

Planning process:

The planning process started with a residents’ workshop at the end of 2022, giving residents an opportunity to share their ideas and wishes regarding the development of the park. Based on the feedback, an online survey was published in February of 2023, which allowed residents to express more detailed wishes for the selection of equipment. You can find the results of the survey below.

A draft plan for the park was prepared based on the most popular equipment combinations.

Residents were able to comment on the draft plan through the otakantaa.fi website as of 12th of April 2023. Comments and questions were able to be submitted for two weeks until 26th of April 2023.

After the public review period, the park plan was finalised. We responded to questions collectively through the otakantaa.fi service.

The park plan was completed during the autumn of 2023. The final signed park plan is available on this page. A more detailed construction plan will then be prepared, and the park will be built based on this plan.

The park will be built during 2024-2025.

Survey results:

64 residents answered the survey, about little over half of which live under 500 meters away from the park. Most of them were adults but also children and teens answered the survey.

The most popular equipment ensembles were the option C for the small children’s playground (22 votes), option A for the older children’s playground (22 votes), option A for the exercise area (21 votes) and option B for the court (36 votes)
