New construction in Kivimies

The plan for Kivimies in Otaniemi is being updated by separating street-like access connections into streets, designating park areas and specifying the planning ordinances for blocks to correspond to their purpose of use. The update will also enable complementary construction for the purpose of building workplaces. City Planning Committee has approved the plan proposal to City Board in Aug. 30, 2023.

Additional information

The aim is to build approximately 150,000 square metres of new floorspace. This will provide homes for roughly 3,000 new residents and facilitate the creation of new jobs. The new construction will match the existing environment, and the area’s cultural-historical and natural values will be factored in during the planning. The existing buildings will be preserved, where possible.
