The planning area of the component master plan for the archipelago encompasses all archipelago areas that do not have valid and detailed component master plans regulating the construction. The purpose of the plan is to have uniform policies for holiday home construction in the archipelago so that the master plan can be used as the grounds for granting building permits.

The plan area is divided into four parts. The gross area is about 3,000 hectares, of which land constitutes about 505 hectares.
