In the future, those organising events in public areas in the centre of Tapiola or even those wanting to put up a sales stand in the area will operate directly with the City of Espoo. In the past, the areas have been subleased and land use permits granted by Tapiola Toimii ry, which has now ceased its operations.

In the future, event organisers in the centre of Tapiola can contact City Events Espoo, which coordinates the use of the area and provides advice. If necessary, the City Events unit will direct you to apply for a land use permit from the Building Site Services, which decides on the lease of the areas and land use permits.

“City Events Espoo has special expertise related to events, and the idea is that they offer customer service in light land lease matters, such as events, occasions and sales stands. If necessary, they will guide event organisers to contact the Building Site Services in permit matters,” says Planning Manager Jukka Haataja from Building Site Services.

The aim is to maintain and enhance the vitality of the Tapiola centre area. Events are desired in the area, and the city encourages to organise them.

In other Espoo areas, event organisers can contact the Building Site Services directly in land lease and permit matters.

“Tapiola differs from other Espoo urban centres in that Tapiola has a large pedestrian centre that enables the organisation of a wide range of events. Tapiola also has Tapionpuisto Park with opportunities for various activities. The landmark of Tapionpuisto Park is the Venturo house,” says Event Advisor Antti Schroderus from City Events.

The Espoo website contains information on organising events and contact information for City EventsInformation on short-term land lease and land use permits can also be found on the Espoo website.

The previous long-term tenant of the city, Tapiola Toimii ry, has subleased the areas and granted land use permits for various operators and events on behalf of the city.  The new operating model was introduced after Tapiola Toimii ry ceased its operations this autumn.
