On Thursday 31 March 2022, the City of Espoo will open an information point called Espoo Info at the Lippulaiva shopping centre in Espoonlahti. The Espoo Info will offer advice and digital support, in other words, help with the use of online services. It will offer a slightly smaller selection of services than the Service Point that will now be closed based on the city’s decision.

In the future, the closest Service Point that offers cashier and sales services can be found in Matinkylä, at the Iso Omena Service Centre. Cashier services allow customers, for example, to pay invoices sent by the city and buy tickets for local transport and events.

Changes in services at the end of March

The Espoonlahti Service Point at the temporary Pikkulaiva shopping centre will offer its full range of services until 11 March. After this date, cashier services will no longer be available in Espoonlahti.

Our staff will continue to offer advice and digital support in the old location from 14 March to 25 March with reduced opening hours (Mon–Fri 13:00–16:00).

From Monday 28 March to Wednesday 30 March, there will be no advisory services available in Espoonlahti because our staff will be busy with the move.

The new Espoo Info will open its doors on the same day as the Lippulaiva shopping centre, Thursday 31 March. We will announce the opening hours of the Espoo Info later at espoo.fi and on the Lippulaiva website.

Mobile service brings Espoo Info where customers are

During the spring, our Espoo Info staff will also launch a mobile service. This means that we will offer digital support and service advice where the target groups who most need them are, for example at the service centres for senior citizens.

We will gradually develop our Espoo Info and mobile services through testing, together with our customers.

“We will offer our mobile advisory service under the Espoo Info name in areas where our current Service Points will be closed. First in Espoonlahti and later also in Espoon keskus and Tapiola. We are currently examining places that our mobile service could visit,” says Customer Service Director Kirsi Remes.

Part of a more extensive change in services

The closing of the Espoonlahti Service Point and the opening of the Espoo Info are part of the extensive change in Espoo’s customer services. In December 2021, the City Board decided(extrernal link) to close the Service Points in Espoonlahti as well as in Espoon keskus (30 June 2022) and Tapiola (30 September 2022) and focus more on mobile advisory services and digital support.

This change is part of the measures of the Economically Sustainable Espoo programme (TakE). However, it would have happened anyway, even without the pressure to make savings, because the digitalisation of the services offered by the city and its partners have changed and will change the need for customer services.

The Service Points in Matinkylä, Leppävaara and Kalajärvi will continue to serve customers as usual.
