One-year artist grant

The one-year artist grant is intended for professional artists in Espoo irrespective of art form, and it will be awarded to one artist for one calendar year at a time. The grant recipient must give up full-time paid work for the duration of the grant period.

The grant is paid on a monthly basis and it includes pension and accident insurance contributions under the Farmers’ Pension Act. Further information is available at the MELA website(external link, opens in a new window)

The artist grant awarded by the City of Espoo corresponds with the artist grants awarded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland. In 2025, the grant amounts to EUR 2,196.30 per month.

The recipient of the artist grant must prepare a free-form report on the work carried out under the plan presented in the application for the grant period. You can find instructions on preparing a report on the webpage To the grant recipient.

How to apply for a one-year artist grant 

The one-year artist grant is applied for once a year in the autumn. The application period for 2026 is from 1 September to 30 September, 2025 until 15.45.

We recommend applying for the grant via the online application service(external link, opens in a new window), which is available on September 24, 2025. 

Alternatively, you can fill in the application form (pdf), which can be downloaded from this page. The form and attachments must be submitted by the deadline to the Espoo City Registry Office (Kirjaamo) at PL 1, 02070 Espoon kaupunki. The application documents and appendices may also be submitted electronically to the Registry Office at kirjaamo@espoo.fi. The application must be accompanied by

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A work plan for the year
  • A description of how the artistic work will be visible in Espoo or renew the art field in Espoo.
  • Optional attachments, e.g. a portfolio describing the work, photos or a video. 


The decisions on grant recipients will be made at the December meeting of the Culture Committee.
