Assessment of cultural grant applications

Grant decisions are based on the principles defined by the Culture Committee and the City of Espoo’s strategic objectives. In addition to quality, applications are assessed based on how they take into account the diversity and inclusion of residents, and whether the activities are accessible and open. Grants are also intended to support cooperation.

Receiving a grant requires that the application and the required appendices have been submitted by the deadline and that it has been duly completed. Delayed or incomplete applications will not be considered. Grants for the same purpose may be obtained from only one unit of the city.

If the Cultural Unit receives a notification or information about a defect, such as the employer’s obligations being neglected, harassment, discriminatory behaviour or mistreatment of animals in the supported activity, an explanation is requested from the recipient of the grant. The grant recipient must take measures to rectify the defect.

If you are not sure whether you should apply for a cultural grant from the City of Espoo for community activities, your project or your work, you can always ask us for advice by e-mail, telephone or by participating in our counselling event.

Please see below the weightings of the assessment criteria and the terms and conditions for the award of cultural grants for each application group.
