Wellbeing account and plan
The wellbeing account and plan are tools that the city uses to plan, monitor, evaluate, and report on the promotion of wellbeing and health in Espoo. Both are prepared once per council term.
The wellbeing account compiles data on the wellbeing work done in Espoo, the factors contributing to wellbeing and wellbeing inequalities, as well as observations on the wellbeing of children, young people and families with children, working-age people, and seniors. The wellbeing plan defines the city’s shared commitment to promoting the wellbeing, health and participation of residents on each council term.
The general wellbeing plan includes three more detailed wellbeing plans for different age groups. In addition, the safety programme, equality and non-discrimination plan, integration plan, and plan for preventive substance abuse work support the objectives of the wellbeing plan.
Wellbeing plan for the council term 2026–2029
The priorities of wellbeing work during the current council term are
- Reducing loneliness, i.e. strengthening communality
- Reducing insecurity, i.e. strengthening safety
- Strengthening of mental wellbeing
The priorities are drawn from the wellbeing account of the previous council term, Erik Allardt’s theory of wellbeing, and extensive preparation between the city’s sectors, the wellbeing services county, organisations and residents. The impact of the plan’s measures are monitored using clear indicators as part of the city’s strategic and financial management. The wellbeing plan is reported to the City Council annually as part of the financial statements.
