75 Years of School Meals Celebration
The 75th anniversary of school meals will be celebrated on 2–6 October 2023 in all schools in Espoo. During the week of celebration, our customers can vote for the best lunch served that week. The instructions for the Best of the Best voting can be found at the end of the page.

Monday 1950s: Rice porridge
Menikö puurot ja vellit sekaisin? 50-luvulla usein meni, sillä ruokalista koostui pitkälle niistä. Vielä tänäkin päivänä oppilaiden suosituimpia ruokia ovat mannapuuro, ohrapuuro ja herkkujen herkku, eli riisipuuro.
Tuesday 1970s: Macaroni casserole
Luokkahuoneista siirryttiin jo ruokailemaan ruokasaliin. Haarukat ja veitset otettiin käyttöön vuokaruokien syrjäyttäessä keittoja ja vellejä. 60-luvun makaronivellikin vaihtui makaronilaatikkoon vuosien kuluessa, eikä ole parhaimpien listalta sen jälkeen poistunut.
Wednesday 1990s: Spinach pancakes
Jo 80-luvulla pinaattiohukaiset yleistyivät koulujen ruokalistoilla, mutta 90-luvulla ne nousivat vankan suosikin asemaan. Pinaattilettuja on tarjoiltu niin jauhelihakastikkeen, makaronisalaatin kuin aprikoosihillonkin kanssa, mutta sittemmin puolukkasurvos on vakiintunut tämän suositun ruoan kaveriksi.
Thursday 2010s: Chicken nuggets
2000-luvulla kansainvälisyys saavutti myös koulujen ruokasalit ja toiveruokapäivistä nousi kouluruokailun hitti. 2010-luvulla oppilaiden toiveissa näkyivät sushi ja burgerit, mutta uuden suosikkiaseman ottivat kananuggetit.
Friday 2023: Salmon soup, ice cream for dessert
Salmon soup is a traditional Finnish fish dish. Fish dishes are served on a weekly basis: fish sticks are an all-time favourite and lime and ginger fish is a newcomer.
Vote for the best meal of the week
The Best of the Best voting will be open for the entire week and can be accessed through this link(external link, opens in a new window) or the QR code displayed in the school restaurants. The meal that gets the most votes will have its own day on the spring menu.
