Accessibility
Arrival on the island of Pentala
Archipelago Museum Pentala can be reached either by Espoo's scheduled archipelago boat routes, or by own boat. It is worth checking the accessibility of the departure ports of the archipelago traffic with the operator, because weather conditions, water level, and the likes affect the situation in the ports. Suinonsalmi is more accessible than the other ports on the Pentala route.
Archipelago museum Pentala can be reached from the archipelago boat via a movable ramp. The pier is located at the edge of the museum area, and it is about 100 meters from there to the information building of the museum area.
Moving around the museum area of the Archipelago Museum
The museum area is an old fishing farm and is only partially accessible.
The paths in the museum area are sand paths. The path from the pier to the museum area is a gentle uphill. Otherwise, the paths in the museum area are quite flat. In rainy weather, the rocks and lawns in the yard area can be slippery.
The information building Villa Rosengård, the break cottage Lilla Villan, and the toilets in the museum area can be accessed via a ramp. Museum buildings have high thresholds and stairs. Gurli's house has stairs and tight spaces, and there is no barrier-free access. We recommend a personal assistant, e.g. for the physically challenged and visually impaired.
The toilet, accessible toilet and childcare room located in the museum area are open during the museum's opening hours. There are no other public toilets on the island.
The Pentala island nature trail outside the museum area is fairly easy to navigate, but not barrier-free. There may be stones, roots, soft sand, wet spots and other obstacles on the path.
Accessible services of the museum area
The toilet, accessible toilet and childcare room located in the museum area are open during the museum's opening hours. There are no other public toilets on the island.
There is no induction loop in the museum area.
In the museum area, there is also information about the buildings on the outdoor signs next to each building. You can also get to know the museum using a mobile guide and an online exhibition.
