Temporary traffic arrangements
Temporary traffic arrangements refer to a situation where work on a street or other public area affects parking arrangements or pedestrian, bicycle or motor vehicle traffic. A permit is always required for temporary traffic arrangements in the City of Espoo’s streets and public areas. The permit is fixed-term and subject to a fee.
A plan of the traffic arrangements must be attached to the permit application. The plan must include a plan image/map of the work area with the necessary traffic control devices and a written description of the work to be carried out. If a pedestrian, bicycle or motor vehicle traffic route has to be cut off or redirected, the plan must show a temporary route with signposts. If a temporary pedestrian and/or bicycle route will be substantially altered, it will be necessary to prepare an adequate number of temporary guide maps for pedestrians and/or cyclists to be installed in the terrain.
If the work is to be carried out in several phases, each phase must be planned and approved separately. The preparation of the temporary traffic arrangement plan and the implementation of the plan and the purchase of the necessary traffic control devices shall be the responsibility of the applicant.
More detailed instructions on how to plan the temporary traffic arrangements and the regulations to be followed can be found in the section “instructions and regulations”.
