Soil information

Soil information can be purchased in the City of Espoo's eCity service.

Soil factors should be taken into account as one cost factor already when purchasing a plot, or no later than when a building is sited on the plot and the foundation method for the building studied.

The Geotechnical Unit conducts geotechnical site investigations only for the City's own projects. Information on companies carrying out geotechnical site investigations can be found on the website of the The Finnish Association of Consulting Firms SKOL.

Geotechnical analysis data and constructability and soil maps can be purchased in the City of Espoo's eCity service(external link, opens in a new window). eCity is an electronic service of the City of Espoo, through which you can obtain soil information and other source material for construction planning. Available are the basemap, the soil and costructability map and the geotechnical analysis data.

A basic package (100x100m) is available for customers, which contains:

the soil and constructability map (pdf)
the basemap (pdf)
the geotechnical site investigation diagrams printed in an image file (pdf)

For an exclusive area, the following are also available:

drilling diagrams (pdf and dwg)
the basemap (pdf, tiff and dwg)
geotechnical site investigation files (Finnish Infra -format)
