Soil disposal
The City of Espoo’s soil disposal site is located in Kulmakorpi, at Kulmakorventie 11, 02820 Espoo. Only clean soil and rock materials from Espoo, Kauniainen and Kirkkonummi are accepted at the Kulmakorpi soil disposal site.
Deliveries must arrive early enough to ensure that unloading can be completed and the vehicle has exited the area within the opening hours.
Opening hours:
- Mon–Thu: 7:30–11:30 and 12:00–16:00
- Fri: 7:30–11:30 and 12:00–14:15
Customers are advised to primarily use the motorway between Ring Road III and the Hista interchange and to ensure that loads are secured properly so that no material falls onto the road during transport.
Changes to operations in 2025
From the beginning of 2025, non-load-bearing soil (clay) and gyttja clay (organic muddy clay) will no longer be accepted at Espoo’s soil disposal site. Load-bearing soil and blasted rock will be accepted as usual. There may also be adjustments to the soil disposal fees.
However, for construction projects commissioned by the City of Espoo, non-load-bearing soil and gyttja clay will be accepted. These projects are listed by the city, and information is available at the disposal site or from the City of Espoo’s project managers and supervisors in charge of the construction projects.
Through these measures, we aim to ensure the long-term continuation of soil disposal operations in Espoo.
Load delivery to Kulmakorpi and customer registration
Transport operators must register in advance as soil disposal site customers in the Materia portal(external link, opens in a new window). Instructions for registration are also available through the same link. By registering, the customer accepts the terms of use of the disposal site and the service. The service provider approves the application, establishing an agreement between the customer and the provider. After approval, the customer receives a confirmation email and login credentials. The customer then logs into the system and adds vehicles and drivers under their company account.
The Kulmakorpi soil disposal site accepts clean soil and rock materials only. The levels of harmful substances in soil and rock materials must be below the lower guideline values specified in Decree 214/2007. Soil and rock materials must not contain any waste.
Invoicing
Customers are responsible for managing invoicing through the online system, where they must define who is to be invoiced for each load. If a transport operator has multiple customers, we recommend that the operator pays the disposal fees (which are linked to their account via license plate recognition) and then invoices these fees to their customers along with the transport charges. For longer-term projects, the vehicle can be registered under the end customer’s account, allowing the operator to avoid invoicing for that period.
At the soil disposal site, a registration plate recognition camera captures and identifies the vehicle. Load-specific information is entered into the online system, and this information forms the basis for invoicing. Through the system, customers receive reports of the loads delivered, which transport operators can use and developers can require as invoice attachments.
Invoices are issued weekly, based on the previous week’s deliveries. Customers should check their transactions weekly to avoid invoicing errors. E-invoicing is the preferred invoicing method.
Soil disposal fees
The received loads are invoiced weekly. Load-specific disposal fees have been in effect since 1 January 2021, based on the Technical Services Committee’s decision (11 November 2020, item 99).

Special loads
All special loads (e.g. contaminated or stabilised soils) must always be reported at the disposal site. Stabilised soils are accepted only from projects commissioned or carried out by the City of Espoo. Instructions for delivering stabilised soils and a notification form for transporting stabilised soils to Kulmakorpi are provided in the attachments below.
Soil and rock materials are not accepted from areas that have been used for shooting ranges, service stations, repair shops, laundry activities, the treatment of scrap or waste, industrial activities or other similar activities. Clean soils from these types of areas are accepted only if reliable test results and a statement from an independent expert institute confirm that the material is clean and non-hazardous. For such cases, disposal must be agreed in advance.
