In addition, there is an intent to allow moderate new construction in the northern part of the plot. The participation and assessment scheme and the preparation material of the plan are available for public review from 8 June to 7 July 2026. You can review the material on the Finnish site for the plan under Valmisteluvaihe and Selvitykset ja suunnitelmat. The plan is estimated to proceed to the proposal stage in spring 2026.

Summary
Bemböle skola is an old, protected school building. It is located on a plot designated as a block area for general-purpose buildings. The current intended use of the plot will be changed so that commercial/service facilities and/or offices can be built there. In addition, the opportunity to construct residential buildings or other new construction in the northern part of the plot will be investigated.
The aim of the plan amendment is to find a new operator for the school building and create jobs or new residences in the area. During planning, we will arrange an application process for design reservation to seek a buyer for the old school. The specific plan solution for the block will be based on the operation that the buyer introduces in the area.
The planning will take the fact that it is a question of an old area that is of great importance to the cityscape into account, as well as the architectural and culture-historical value of the old school building. Traffic noise must also be taken into account.
