Espoo invites applications for a planning reservation for the old Bemböle school plot

The City of Espoo is seeking an operator through an open two-phase application procedure for the implementation of a detailed plan amendment on plot 49-63-153-1 of the old Bemböle school in Järvenperä. The protected school building on the plot is suitable, for example, for commercial, service or office premises. The recipient of the planning reservation may also carry out new construction on the plot. 

The application period begins on 8 June 2026. Applications must be submitted by 12:00 on 7 September 2026. Applicants are required to attend a presentation at the site before submitting their application. 

The selected project will be presented to the City Board’s Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee for approval of the planning reservation. A preliminary agreement on the purchase of the buildings will be made with the selected applicant. During the planning reservation period, the recipient is obliged to advance the detailed plan amendment and later apply for the permits required to implement the project. 

The final deed of sale for the buildings and the final land lease will be concluded once the detailed plan amendment required by the project has been confirmed. The land lease requires a separate decision by the Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee.
