Leppävaara Sports Park
ParksLeppävaaraEspoo Public Works Centre is preparing a park plan for the Leppävaara Sports Park area. The planning is being carried out in cooperation with Espoo Sports and Exercise profit centre. The aim is to design new activities for the area and to increase the amount of pleasant communal space. Plans for the area include a new artificial turf pitch and artificial ice rink on the site of the existing sand pitch, new tennis courts, a beach volleyball court and new sports facilities such as an outdoor gym. A picnic area and open grass areas will be planned, for example for park aerobics or relaxing. The outdoor trails are being reorganised, partly due to the Kameleonten sports hall project currently under construction on the site. Cycling and skiing conditions will also be taken into account. The aim is to design a functional and attractive landscape for the area, taking into account its natural values.

As a base for the design work, an online residents’ survey was carried out using the Webropol survey tool. The survey was open from 29 October to 21 November 2021 and the total number of respondents was 403.

Project timetable
The plan is expected to be completed in autumn 2022. After that, more detailed construction plans will be drawn up. Construction of the project is expected to start in phases between 2023 and 2024.
