Local residents have complained about the use of open trenches between the plots to drain stormwater which causes them to flood. Moreover, the City of Espoo Building Control has advised the Public Works Department to take necessary measures to prevent problems.

The street’s functions will be redesigned to better serve as a plot access road. The area designated for a street in the district plan is fairly narrow and in addition to the new five metres wide roadway, there is only room for two narrow strips of greenery on both sides of it in the street cross-section. The best ways to preserve the surrounding vegetation and the possibility of planting to compensate will be determined during the planning stage.

The current street is long and straight. Various ways to reduce driving speeds, such as chicanes and speed bumps, will be looked into in the street plan draft.

The street currently has water and waste water pipes but no stormwater drain system. A new stormwater drain system will be designed and built on the street which the properties will have to join.

The street plan draft will be presented at a so-called “street plan walk” at the said location where the residents and designers meet at the end of August 2023. A separate invitation letter will be sent to those concerned.

After the resident event, the street plan draft will be available for public viewing and handed over to the Technical Services Committee for processing in autumn 2023. Construction on the street is aimed for 2024.

The Technical Services Committee approved the plans on 31 January 2024.
