The anniversary will be celebrated with a diverse programme from Tuesday to Sunday, 13–18 October 2026. Everyone is warmly welcome to join the celebrations!

For two decades, Exhibition Centre WeeGee, EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art and KAMU Espoo City Museum have welcomed visitors to enjoy art, history and design in Tapiola, Espoo. The celebrations begin on Tuesday, 13 October, marking exactly 20 years since the doors of Exhibition Centre WeeGee first opened. On its actual anniversary, the venues will offer coffee and cake to the first 100 visitors, as well as free admission from 11 am to 5 pm. The programme on the first day of celebrations will focus especially on WeeGee House and its iconic Brutalist concrete architecture, which visitors can explore through guided tours(external link, opens in a new window) and a visual lecture(external link, opens in a new window). Designed by Professor Aarno Ruusuvuori in the 1960s, the building originally served as a printing house for Weilin+Göös. In the early 2000s, it was transformed into a modern exhibition centre that is now home to two museums, the Mauri Kunnas world and the Futuro House.

Wednesday, 14 October, will feature the Historical Afternoons programme for seniors, focusing on public art that brings joy to residents across Espoo. Following an expert presentation, the afternoon can continue with a dance performance by the Jade community(external link, opens in a new window) and a poetry concert, where Sirkka Turkka’s collection Yö aukeaa kuin vilja is interpreted through spoken word, jazz and theatre.

Teatteri ILMI Ö.

Thursday, 15 October, and Saturday, 17 October, are dedicated to the youngest members of the family. On Thursday, the Teatteri Konna production Pieni tunteiden kirja explores the small and big emotions of life. On Saturday, young museum visitors will be entertained by Pikku Papun Orkesteri and Teatteri ILMI Ö’s Synttärisimulaattori(external link, opens in a new window). The permanent Mauri Kunnas exhibition at Exhibition Centre WeeGee invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of the beloved books through play and a treasure hunt. The traditional autumn holiday workshops for children will also take place at EMMA(external link, opens in a new window) from Tuesday to Friday and at KAMU until Saturday.

Friday, 16 October, kicks off the weekend in style as tatskatytöt take over the exhibition centre’s restaurant with their What the q*iz??!. The quiz, aimed at young adults, features questions about trends, art, music, films and pop culture. There will also be some mysterious visual puzzles! You can come with your own group of friends or on your own – you are sure to find a team to join at the venue. Before the quiz, you can enjoy a live performance by pampulameri or meet new people through an art-themed getting-to-know-you trail(external link, opens in a new window). DJ Laura Vartio will provide the evening’s soundtrack, playing records in the restaurant until 10 pm.

Sunday, 18 October, brings the anniversary week to a close with a programme dedicated to the Futuro House. Film director and visual artist Mika Taanila has curated the Muoviaika film screening, celebrating the era of Futuro. After the screening, visitors can step aboard Futuro on a guided tour.
