You are warmly welcome to enjoy the “Suloiset talvipäivät olivat yhtä jäniksen turkkia” performance, combining spoken word poetry, ambient jazz and theatre!

The performance involves a personage who is looking for a certain absurd piece of toccata; looking back to their days at school spent at the top of a linden tree; bombarding their head with a bunch of sleeping pills; following how Hamlet is being raised; chewing on match heads; struggling with stomach cramps and occasionally impaired vision; and fading into oblivion and even beyond.

The performance, featuring actress Kaija Pakarinen, musician Tapani Rinne and director Riku Saastamoinen, is based on the poetry anthology “Yö aukeaa kuin vilja” (Tammi 1978) by Sirkka Turkka.

Director Riku Saastamoinen describes the performance as follows: “In Turkka's poems, a human being is inextricably and tangibly bound with nature. Rather than its focal point, a human being is part of the entity formed by other species and phenomena. The show is based on the very same ethos; the music, composed by Tapani Rinne for the performance and performed live by him, holds its own against Turkka’s use of language and the acting prowess of Kaija Pakarinen, creating surroundings, associations, harmonies and discordant notes for the text.”

The performance will be held in the Aitio venue on the 2nd floor. Starting time is 16.00 and duration approximately one hour.
