Inform us of your child’s need for early childhood education during the summer by 20 April 2026
It is time for us to start planning this summer’s early childhood education services and our staff’s holidays.
From 29 June to 2 August 2026, most of our day care centres will be closed and early childhood education will only be provided at certain units. Click on this link to see which units will stay open.
Most units will be open in June and in early August, but groups may be combined or smaller units may be closed while some of the children and staff are on holiday.
Our aim is to make sure that our staff are on holiday around the same time as most of the children. We need information about your child’s need for early childhood education during the summer so that we can make the required arrangements.
Please note that you need to inform us of some summertime attendances and absences through the eVaka calendar and some through the eVaka survey. You can find further instructions below.
Early childhood education 1–28 June and 3–30 August 2026
- Enter all your child’s known absences into the eVaka calendar by 20 April 2026.
Early childhood education 29 June–2 August 2026
- A survey was added to eVaka today, where guardians should enter their child’s attendance and absence days between 29 June and 2 August 2026.
- You must report your child’s confirmed attendance and absence days by 20 April 2026. Do not leave empty days in the calendar. The exact hours of attendance cannot be entered into the system at this point.
- You can enter the exact weekly hours into the eVaka calendar after the survey has closed. Enter the hours into the calendar as usual, by 18:00 on the Monday of the previous week.
Other absences during the summer
- You can report your child’s temporary absences (e.g. illnesses or additional days off) as usual through the eVaka calendar.
Remember to cancel early childhood education for July if not needed
If your child does not need early childhood education between 29 June and 2 August 2026, please cancel the child’s attendance booking by entering their absence into the eVaka calendar by 11 June 2026.
We will charge half of the normal monthly fee if you do not cancel the booking in time. If your income-based client fee is EUR 0/month, we will charge EUR 15.00.
Client fees in July
July is a free month if your child’s early childhood education started no later than September 2025.
If your child started early childhood education after September 2025, a fee will be charged for July as follows:
- If your child is absent from early childhood education for the entire month of July, half of the monthly fee will be charged.
- If your child attends early childhood education even for one day in July, a full monthly fee will be charged.

Termination of a place in early childhood education
If your child no longer needs early childhood education, terminate their place in early childhood education through eVaka as soon as possible. Also provide your child’s last day of attendance, after which invoicing will end.
Pre-primary education ends at the end of May
Free-of-charge pre-primary education ends on 29 May 2026. If the child continues attending early childhood education in the summer after the end of pre-primary education, we will send a new client fee decision to the family in June.
The early childhood education agreements for children starting school end by 31 July 2026. If your child’s need for early childhood education ends before that, please terminate their place in early childhood education through eVaka.
If your child only attends pre-primary education, you do not have to separately terminate your child’s place in pre-primary education in the spring.
