Espoo medal recipients 2025

The Espoo medal has been awarded to 14 people in recognition of their work for the benefit of the City of Espoo. The 2025 Espoo medals will be presented at the Independence Day Gala Concert, which will be shown live online on 6 December at 14:30.
The recipients of the Espoo medal are:
- City Councillor Simon Elo
- Director of Upper Secondary Education and Youth Services Tapio Erma
- City Councillor Kaarina Järvenpää
- Executive Director Kaj Järvisalo
- Founders of ICEYE Pekka Laurila and Rafal Modrzewski
- Director of Early Childhood Education Virpi Mattila
- City Councillor Risto Nevanlinna
- Leppävaara community activist and non-fiction author Markku Salmi
- Restaurateur Aman Singh and real estate investor Sanjiv Tember
- Lifesavers Kiira Sivonen and Lotta Timonen
- Music Pedagogue Tuula Tikkanen
The Espoo medal, designed by medal artist Kauko Räsänen, has been awarded to more than 500 people since 1972 in recognition of their work for the benefit of the city. The recipients are chosen by the medal committee of the City of Espoo.
The City of Espoo Independence Day Gala Concert will be streamed live on Yle Areena.
