Inform us of your child’s need for early childhood education during the summer by 21 April 2025
It is time for us to start planning this summer’s early childhood education services and our staff’s holidays.
From 30 June to 27 July 2025, most of our day care centres will be closed and early childhood education will only be provided at certain units. All units will be open for the rest of the summer, but groups may be combined or smaller units may be closed while some of the children and staff are on holiday.
Our aim is to make sure that our staff are on holiday around the same time as most of the children. We need information about your child’s need for early childhood education during the summer so that we can make the required arrangements.
Please note that you need to inform us of some summertime attendances and absences through the eVaka calendar and some through the eVaka survey. You can find further instructions below.
Early childhood education 1–29 June and 28 July–31 August 2025
- Use the eVaka calendar to report all your child’s known absences by 21 April 2025.
Early childhood education 30 June–27 July 2025
- A survey was added to eVaka today, where guardians should enter their children’s attendances and absences between 30 June and 27 July 2025.
- You must report your child’s attendances and absences by 21 April 2025. Do not leave empty days in the calendar. The exact hours of attendance cannot be entered into the system at this point.
- You can enter the exact weekly hours into the eVaka calendar after the survey has closed. Enter the hours into the calendar as usual, by 18:00 on the Monday of the previous week.
Other absences during the summer
- You can report your child’s temporary absences (e.g. illnesses or additional days off) as usual through the eVaka calendar.
Remember to cancel early childhood education for July if not needed
If your child does not need early childhood education between 30 June and 27 July 2025, cancel the child’s attendance booking by entering their absence into the eVaka calendar by 12 June.
We will charge half of the normal monthly fee if you do not cancel the booking in time. If your income-based client fee is EUR 0/month, we will charge EUR 15.00.
Client fees in July
July is a free month if your child’s early childhood education started no later than September 2024.
If your child started early childhood education after September 2024, a fee will be charged for July as follows:
- If your child is absent from early childhood education for the entire month of July, half of the monthly fee will be charged.
- If your child attends early childhood education even for one day in July, a full monthly fee will be charged. Please consider this when making bookings for the last week of July.

Termination of a place in early childhood education
If your child no longer needs early childhood education, terminate their place in early childhood education through eVaka as soon as possible. Also provide your child’s last day of attendance, after which invoicing will end.
Pre-primary education ends at the end of May
Free-of-charge pre-primary education ends on 30 May 2025. You do not have to separately terminate your child’s place in pre-primary education. If your child does not need early childhood education after pre-primary education ends in the spring, terminate their place in early childhood education.
Please note that a fee is charged for early childhood education in the summer. If you need to make changes to the weekly hours during the summer, contact your child’s early childhood education unit to update the agreement.
The early childhood education agreements for children starting school end by 31 July 2025. If your child’s need for early childhood education ends before 31 July, please terminate their place in early childhood education through eVaka.
