Information session for guardians with an immigration background: learn about high school studies

Hello guardian of a high school student and guardian of a future high school student! Do you want to get more information about high school studies and the support and guidance offered by the high school? What is studying in high school like? What kinds of opportunities are available to young people during high school? There are especially many questions about the young person's study opportunities for the family who is not familiar with the Finnish education system and those who have attended their own schools abroad.

In October 2023, Ohjauksella onnistumisiin -project of Espoo general upper secondary education will offer a unique information event about upper secondary education. The information session organized by Espoo general upper secondary education is aimed especially at guardians of high school students who speak foreign languages and have an immigrant background. The presentations are held in Finnish and are simultaneously interpreted into the following languages: Arabic, Somali, Russian and Chinese. You can also ask questions and get answers in English.

Advice and practical tips can be asked directly from high school staff and cultural instructors. At the information session, the high school staff's speeches will be held in Finnish. Guardians can also receive advice in their own mother tongue. The cultural instructors of upper secondary education act as interpreters at the events, speaking Arabic, Chinese, Somali and Russian.

There is a clear demand for a multilingual information event in Espoo - after all, more and more people from Espoo have an immigrant background and have completed their studies in their own country.
