A handbook on organising residents’ panels as workshops was published after the closing event of the City of Espoo’s Future Workshop for Sustainable Development (TUPA) project.

At the closing event of the project, on 16 May 2023, experts from other cities and municipalities and municipal operators were invited to hear and discuss how resident participation can be implemented through residents’ panels and workshop activities. The presentation on the experiences gathered during the TUPA project raised a lot of interest and questions among the audience, which shows how topical the work is.

The now-published handbook entitled Involving residents in sustainable development work – Case: the City of Espoo’s Future Workshop for Sustainable Development (TUPA) project provides a concise collection of experience-based tips for organising a residents’ panel. The resident participation work carried out under TUPA was linked to the city’s sustainability work, but the methods and best practices are also applicable and scalable to other needs related to resident participation. The handbook has been published in Finnish and English and can be downloaded for free through the link below.
