Sculptor Jasmin Anoschkin’s new playful piece ‘The Birth of the Random Species’ (Satunnaislajikkeiden synty) is located in the spacious lobby of the family centre. The work commissioned for the family centre represents the coexistence of different species. The purpose of art at the centre is to bring joy to clients and staff.

The piece at the Espoon keskus Family Centre belongs to the collection of EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art. There are artworks on every floor of the family centre. Anoschkin’s piece in the lobby consists of several figures on a rainbow slide.

Residents were invited to suggest names for three of the rainbow figures. People could submit their suggestions from September’s open house event to the beginning of November. A total of 45 suggestions were submitted. We would like to thank everyone who took part!

The three rainbow figures were named Dino Onni-Isabel, Greippi Pallokorva and Jaderaita Sydänpää. The sculptor chose the names by combining different suggestions. The other figures had already been named by the sculptor. In EMMA’s interview video, artist Jasmin Anoschkin talks about her piece(external link, opens in a new window) ‘The Birth of the Random Species’ (2022) and reveals the names of the other figures.
