More sustainable ways of mobility aroused interest in Espoonlahti. Organized as part of Espoo's 50 years as a city celebration, the Sustainable Mobility event brought together industry players and residents at Solmutori in the Lippulaiva city centre.

The sustainable mobility event was part of the SPARCS project of the City of Espoo, presenting the residents with ways of a more sustainable lifestyle together with Schneider Electric, PlugIt, HSL and the City of Espoo. At the event, citizens were able to test drive Helkama Velox electric bikes, as well as TIER e-scooters and HSL city bikes. There was also chance to get to know the electric car and its charging options. One could get their bike serviced at Yeply's mobile bike service point as well.

The EU-funded SPARCS project aims to find more sustainable everyday solutions together with the citizens of Espoo. It is important to make more sustainable ways of mobility a part of daily life in Espoo, because transport causes about a third of Espoo's total emissions. To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2030, the carbon footprint of Espoo's residents must also be examined.

“Practical testing of various sustainable mobility devices inspires and motivates residents to examine their own mobility habits and possibly adopt new ways of a more sustainable lifestyle” says project coordinator Mia Kaurila at the event.

The event gathered around 150 residents interested in sustainable mobility solutions. Thanks to everyone for participating!
