The Neppers supported housing unit situated in northern Espoo will close down. The unit’s residents have already moved elsewhere during the spring, and the premises will be completely emptied in June.

The Neppers supported housing unit has offered substance-free, temporary supported housing for clients of mental health and substance abuse services. Neppers was established in the 1970s as a welfare home for retired people with substance abuse problems. The demand for the services provided by Neppers has decreased in recent years, and the facilities are in poor condition. For these reasons, the city has decided to close down the unit and transfer the services to other housing units for clients with mental health and substance abuse problems.

The City of Espoo continues to safeguard and strengthen its clients’ life management skills and ability to find permanent housing and cope in the surrounding society. Espoo provides a variety of housing services for clients with mental health and substance abuse problems, including supported, sheltered and intensified sheltered housing both at city-owned housing units and as outsourced services.
