The Information and Assistance Centre for Ukrainians brings together authorities, active residents and organisations in Espoo

The Information and Assistance Centre for Ukrainians to be opened in Leppävaara will provide official information and guidance as well as advice on everyday issues. The centre will also serve as a meeting point and as a coordination place for volunteer activities.

At the moment, the greatest need is for food and hygiene products. These are distributed at various locations around Espoo, and volunteers have also established additional distribution points.

“People have a huge desire to help Ukrainians who have fled the war in their country. Espoo already has several points that distribute food and hygiene products, among other things. The City of Espoo wants to offer professional guidance and advice on issues our employees have expertise in,” says Espoo's Mayor Jukka Mäkelä.

The aim is that the centre adapts to the changing circumstances in order to serve those in need of assistance as well as possible.  Future plans will be modified along the way.

“We hope that, going forward, the centre will be able to offer help with finding accommodation or volunteer help with moving. Together, we will create a centre that meets the needs of its clients as well as possible,” says Eeva Ström, Project Manager for the Information and Assistance Centre for Ukrainians.

We want to offer communities, associations and private individuals equal opportunities to help. In order to bring together a multiprofessional community to support Ukrainians, we also need volunteers and partners. If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a partner, please contact Project Manager Eeva Ström, eeva.strom@espoo.fi.
