Changes to operations of service points – Espoo Infos to be added alongside
The City of Espoo customer service is currently undergoing an operational change, which in a nutshell means that in the future, we will be operating under two different models:
- Our service points will continue to operate as they currently do, in other words, provide guidance and digital support as well as a variety of cashier and sales services (such as payment of city invoices and commuter traffic ticket sales)
- Espoo Infos are information points offering a more limited range of services. The mobile information service operates with the same range of services as Espoo Info, i.e., it provides guidance and digital support.
The number of service points in Espoo will decrease during 2022. Service points in their current form will continue to serve all Espoo residents along the metro line in Matinkylä and along the railway line in Leppävaara and Kalajärvi.
Mobile service to be developed through experiments
The current service points in Espoonlahti, Espoon keskus and Tapiola will be closed. Instead, mobile information service will be offered in these areas under the name Espoo Info. This means that service advisors will visit focus groups that could benefit from public service guidance and digital support, or help with using electronic services. The service will be gradually developed through experiments together with the focus groups. For example, service centres for senior citizens could be one of the target locations of mobile information service.
In addition, lighter versions of the current service points, known as Espoo Info, will be opened in Espoonlahti and Espoon keskus, and everyone is welcome to use their services. They will also offer guidance and digital support, but no cashier or sales services. The first Espoo Info will open in April in the new shopping centre Lippulaiva in Espoonlahti, and the one in Espoon keskus is scheduled to be opened this summer in the facilities of the City Registry Office in Entresse Shopping Centre. The change in Tapiola will be specified during the spring and take place towards the end of the autumn.
