Espoo’s contact tracing situation has improved

24.9.2021 12.41

Thanks to our contact tracing team’s persistent work and additional resources, the delays in contact tracing have been considerably reduced. Over the past week, we have been able to start contact tracing in most cases within 1–2 days of a positive test result. We are also still actively trying to reach people who tested positive in early September.

People who are not reached by phone receive a separate text message with instructions on isolation as well as on quarantine for people living in the same household. People who test positive are also instructed to report possible exposed persons at mycoviddata.fi(external link, opens in a new window). The service requires strong identification using online banking codes or a mobile ID. You can also use the service on behalf of another person.

Exposed persons are contacted by text message

Espoo residents who are exposed to the coronavirus are still contacted by text message. Information on exposures in schools and day care centres is communicated through each unit’s contact person. Information is often sent through the Wilma system or in another agreed manner.

A backlog in the processing of isolation and quarantine decisions due to the large number of infections in August

People who are placed in isolation or quarantine receive their official isolation or quarantine decision by post. Due to the large number of infections in August, there is a backlog in the processing of isolation and quarantine decisions. Some of those who were placed in quarantine in August or September have not yet received their decision. Decisions are processed in chronological order from the oldest to the most recent and sent as soon as possible. You do not need to contact the City of Espoo to get your decision. It will be sent to you automatically.

If you are going to apply for infectious disease allowance, you will need to submit your application within two months of the date from which you wish to receive the benefit. If you are about to reach the two-month limit and have not yet received your decision, you can contact Kela.
