The City of Espoo is one of the main partners of the Association of Friends of the University Children’s Hospitals this year. The ongoing effort to support them will last throughout the year. Charity concert Kummit Live: Life for a Child will be shown on MTV3-channel on 8.9. at 20–22.

The City of Espoo is one of the main partners of the Association of Friends of the University Children’s Hospitals. The ongoing effort to support them will last throughout the year. The city has partnered with the Friends to promote children’s well-being and paediatric research. We would like to challenge everyone to organise campaigns to do good for the benefit of young patients. We invite day care centres, educational institutions, communities, sports clubs, companies and private individuals to take part.

Fundraising ideas – contribute in your own way!

Schools

Primary schools can organise full-day events or competitions to support the Friends, such as school games with various sports. You can collect a voluntary competition or event entrance fee and donate the proceeds to the fundraising campaign.

There are also many important topics that you can discuss at school, such as the community’s support when a child or a young person falls ill, the mental health of children and young people, and the importance of paediatric research. Pupils can learn about the most common hospital procedures through gaming. Klovnituubi (“the clown tube”) is a series of videos that introduce you to hospitals from the viewpoint of clowns.

Secondary school pupils can participate in fundraising activities for example by spending one day at work.

Day care centres

Organise a day dedicated to the Association of Friends of the University Children’s Hospitals: talk about health and helping and supporting others. Colour in pictures of Teemu the teddybear, the Friends’ official mascot.

You can organise an art exhibition of your colouring pictures and other artwork for parents. You can collect a small voluntary entrance fee or sell the artwork for a small price and donate the proceeds to the City of Espoo’s fundraising campaign for the Friends, to support young patients.

Another fun way to contribute is to organise Teddybear Games. You can even make them into a full-day campaign event for the whole family where parents get to try their hand at various games and competitions, too. You can collect a small voluntary participation fee and donate the total sum to the Friends.

Day care centres in the same area could organise Teddybear Games or even a fundraising concert together. You can borrow a Teemu the teddybear suit from the Friends for large events by sending an email to jaana@kummit.fi.

Sports groups and clubs

For each goal or victory, your community could donate a small sum to the City of Espoo’s fundraiser for the Friends. You could organise a sports competition or a game in cooperation with Espoo-based schools and invite athletic Friends based in Espoo to participate, not forgetting the mascot Teemu the teddybear!

The proceeds from the coffee and cake stand could go towards the fundraiser.

Companies and work teams

Would your team be interested in spending half a day raising funds at a shopping centre with collection boxes? How about a telephone campaign among your business partners along these lines: “Would you donate a small sum to the Association of Friends of the University Children’s Hospitals with us?”

Are there any active team members who would arrange a pay-what-you-want coffee buffet or a breakfast whose proceeds you could donate to the Friends?

Coming up with events of your own is also a great idea! In this case, check out our instructions for event organisers.

Cultural operators

A small part of the proceeds from a concert or another event could be donated to the fundraiser. You could also invite patients and their families to events, taking accessibility into account.

Private individuals

Helping young patients makes you feel good. You are the right person to launch a fundraiser for a good cause and encourage your friends to participate, too. You could for example use Facebook’s handy fundraising tool to organise a birthday fundraiser.

You could also throw a fun fundraising event of your own, such as a flea market or a bake sale at your workplace and donate the proceeds to help the smallest of patients. You decide!

In addition, you can participate in the fundraising campaign by donating to the Friends through MobilePay using the number 86066.
