Idea Sprint for Espoo residents – Urban centres 2060
Urban, green, welcoming, surprising – what would the best future for Espoo’s urban centres look like? Idea Sprint for Espoo residents was a new way to participate in the development of the city in Spring 2025.Brainstorming and co-creation
Idea Sprint for Espoo residents consisted of three workshops, which took place in May and June. It resulted in ideas generated by the participants on the future of Espoonlahti, Espoon keskus, Kauklahti, Leppävaara, Matinkylä and Tapiola.
More than 80 Espoo residents applied for the Sprint in March. A group of 30 applicants was selected, with residents of different ages from across the city who have as wide a range of ideas, views, experiences and wishes as possible.
What happens to the ideas?
Idea Sprint was organised by the Espoo City Planning Department. The ideas will be reviewed by the department’s planners and experts and used in the preparation of the Espoo Master Plan 2060. Espoo is currently preparing a city-wide master plan extending up to 2060.
You can familiarize yourself with the idea works in the exhibition which is on view in Sello, Iso Omena, Entresse and Lippulaiva libraries as well as Espoo Cultural Centre from. September 1st to September 14th 2025.

Espoo Master Plan 2060
The Idea sprint is part of the preparation of Espoo Master Plan 2060. Espoo Master Plan 2060 is a general plan concerning land use everywhere in the city. It will help us prepare for the future and guide change towards 2060.
