Group visits to libraries
Come and visit a library with a group! All kinds of groups are welcome to visit our libraries independently or under our staff’s guidance. Groups can visit all public libraries in Espoo.
During a guided visit, our staff can teach your group how to use the library, provide general information about the library and its services, or focus on a specific library service. If your group needs guidance, please send us a request well before the desired date.
This page provides more detailed information and instructions for group visits.
Day care and school groups
Our libraries offer various services, such as book tips, workshops and guided tours, for day care centres and schools. You can read more about these services on the KULPS library path page.
Adults’ integration training groups
Do you teach adults’ integration training groups in Espoo? Come and explore library services together with your group. The Finnish free-of-charge library system is a globally unique service that everyone living in Finland should be familiar with.
During group visits, we tell the participants about the services of Espoo’s libraries and the Finnish library system in general. We also tell groups how libraries can help them learn Finnish and what other interesting services are available at our libraries. It is possible for group members to get their own library cards during a library visit.
Library presentations are always given in easy-to-understand Finnish and last about an hour.
Groups can also visit libraries independently.
Library professionals
We are happy to present the activities of Espoo City Library to other library professionals from both Finland and other countries. Professionals from other fields are also welcome to visit our libraries.
As a rule, library presentations are given in Finnish, Swedish or English. Please note that our libraries do not offer interpretation services.
Other adult groups
Our libraries also welcome other adult groups, such as associations and recreational groups. We can tailor the content of each visit and focus on the services that your group is interested in. Possible topics include our libraries’ makerspaces, information retrieval and literature. Read more about library services and facilities on the Libraries page , on the Helmet website(external link, opens in a new window) and on the Varaamo booking website(external link, opens in a new window).
Independent visits
Your group can also visit our libraries and explore their facilities and services independently. During an independent visit, our staff can help you with specific issues but cannot give a comprehensive presentation of the library’s activities.
It is also possible for your group members to get library cards during an independent visit. If most of your group members want to get a library card during a visit, please inform us in advance using the ‘Adult group visits to libraries’ form(external link, opens in a new window), so that we have enough staff at the customer service desk.
Research in libraries
If you want to do research in our library, for example interview customers or carry out a survey, you need a research permit from the library. You can request a research permit by contacting the library where you want to do research. You can find our libraries’ contact information on the Helmet website under Libraries(external link, opens in a new window).
