Espoo libraries’ 3D printers will be centralised at two libraries to improve the reliability of the service
3D printing at the Entresse, Lippulaiva and Tapiola libraries ends on Sunday 12 April. New 3D stations will open at Iso Omena and Sello libraries on Wednesday 15 April! More information regarding the change
Makerspaces in Espoo City Library
Makerspaces in Espoo City Library are free work and learning spaces open to everyone.
Varaamo(external link, opens in a new window)You can find Espoo City Library’s Makerspaces from Entresse, Iso Omena, Lippulaiva, Sello and Tapiola. In all Makerspaces you can, for example, do crafts, sew, work on your own projects and join guided activities. Using the Makerspace and its appliances is free.
Library Makerspace’s appliances can be found and reserved in the Varaamo service(external link, opens in a new window). It is advisable to book an appliance in advance. Please note that the appliances are in self-service use. You will find comprehensive instructions for them at the Makerspace. The staff will help as needed. Please always clean up after yourself when you visit the Makerspace.
Specialities in different Makerspaces
3D printing stations
You can use the 3D printers at the Ison Omena and Sello makerspaces. You can only have one 3D printer reserved at a time. Reserve a 3D printer via Varaamo(external link, opens in a new window).
Wood workshop
Iso Omena Makerspace’s specialty is a wood workshop and a variety of tools. You may work independently in the woodshop if you are at least 18 years old. Minors may use the space if a guardian is present. Reserve woodshop equipment via Varaamo(external link, opens in a new window).
Sewing room Solmu
Lippulaiva Makerspace’s specialty is the sewing room Solmu. The room has a sewing machine, a coverstitch machine, two overlocks, a flatiron and an ironing board, and a clothes steamer. You can reserve the room for four hours at a time via Varaamo(external link, opens in a new window).
Events at the Makerspace
The library’s Makerspaces hosts a variety of different workshops every week where participants can create things together. The Makerspace also hosts other events, such as group clothing repair sessions. Check out all the events taking place at the Makerspace in the event calendar.
