Support for learning and participation in pre-primary education
High-quality pre-primary education creates a strong foundation for a child’s development, learning and wellbeing. We aim to prevent possible challenges in learning or participation in many different ways. These include:
- diverse working and teaching methods
- flexible group arrangements
- strength-based learning
- close cooperation and joint planning between teachers and other staff.
The goal is that every child can participate in pre-primary education and learn according to their own abilities.
If a child faces challenges in participating in pre-primary education or learning, they have the right to receive support. Support can include:
- support provided in a group
- individual support based on the child’s needs.
We organise support measures as inclusively as possible – meaning that the child can receive the necessary support in their own pre-primary education group, as close to home as possible.
We plan a child’s support in close cooperation with guardians, a special education teacher, and student welfare specialists. In addition, the pre-primary education staff may include a language and culture teacher who can support children’s language learning.
