Työnantajatreffit recruitment event is a good way for Securitas to find workforce
At the Työnantajatreffit recruitment event organised by the City of Espoo, companies get to present their activities and tell unemployed job seekers about vacancy openings. Recruitment events are organised regularly a couple of times a month in the libraries of Sello or Iso Omena.
"It is a very good concept", assures Securitas’ Recruitment Coordinator Teemu Leppäsalko, one of the regular participants of the work life events.
The Economic Development and Employment Unit of the City of Espoo has long understood the mismatch of unemployment. The companies in Espoo have available jobs, but for some reason unemployed job seekers cannot find them easily. The recruitment concept, where the company gets to speak directly to the job seekers and offers each participant the opportunity for an interview, serves both the employer and the job seeker. In addition to the company, the recruitment events are always attended by representatives of the Information point for Työllisyys Espoo and Hello Espoo info (information point for immigrants) from whom the job seeker can get advice and help, for example, in making a job application.
"Recruitment events are good for getting a job", says Jari Engström, Business Cooperation Coordinator of the City of Espoo.
Securitas is constantly on the lookout
Security services provider Securitas has already participated in recruitment events three times this year. Using versatile recruitment channels is vital for them, as they have a high turnover of security guards. Finding motivated employees is a continuous process. Many students for example work temporarily in the field. The job market always picks up in the summer, but in the fall, when study places are announced or some go to the army, the cycle starts again.
In total, Securitas employs around 1,200 employees in the capital area. There are about 300 of them in Espoo.
"We find employees through recruitment events, but at the same time we also reach a lot of potential future professionals in the security field. Bulletin about recruitment events in the City of Espoo is be sent to up to 10,000 job seekers. Many of them would not have even thought about the security field without the contact from Työllisyys Espoo", Teemu Leppäsalko says about the idea of Securitas’ recruitment marketing.
Leppäsalko also believes that there is power in recruitment through repetition. Regular participation in the recruitment events is one part of this idea.
"You cannot miss a recruitment event. The event is great! Things can always be easily agreed with the operators of Työllisyys Espoo and organising the event is extremely easy for us. On the other hand, for a new employee the opportunity is a big chance, because at the recruitment event, a youth can get an interview without a CV and get valuable feedback about their skills and opportunities."
Securitas’ Teemu Leppäsalko continues sentences:
Espoo for an entrepreneur is...
approachable and open – if you dare.
My life as an entrepreneur would be easier if I could get through the network...
to organise “norm reduction”, where the focus would be on meeting people. If employers and employees had more genuine opportunities for low-threshold contact, employment results would certainly improve.
