The meeting discussed the following issues.
Diverse recruitment at the City of Espoo
The City of Espoo conducted a survey together with Riesa Consultative Oy aimed at persons who recruit employees for the City of Espoo. The survey yielded 85 responses.
The survey examined the views of persons in charge of recruiting on the diversity and equality issues related to the recruitment process and the work community comprehensively. The purpose of the survey is to help develop the operations of the City of Espoo for the part of the above-mentioned themes. The survey was presented by Anni Kyröläinen from Riesa Consultative Oy. Key results were discussed at the meeting and suggested measures were presented. The members present at the meeting were invited to Diverse Recruitment training organised as a Teams meeting on 9 February 2022.
Commenting on the Fair Play at Work and in Other Walks of Life equality plan
The City of Espoo is currently preparing statutory equality plans for services and personnel. In previous years, it has been customary to forward rather finished plans to the city’s elected officials for comments. Over the years, we have received feedback that as a result of the aforementioned practice, the elected officials have felt that they have very limited opportunities to influence the plans.
The background document draft was discussed at the meeting, and the measure section will be prepared for comments later on.
The meeting started with discussions in small groups, followed by an active discussion and collecting joint feedback on the background document draft. The feedback will be forwarded to the city-level Equality Network for discussion and to be considered in further work.
The developed draft will be submitted to the Equality Committee and the Disability Council for comments later in the spring.
