Encounters and civic engagement – the library at the heart of the community
By offering opportunities for volunteer work, the library supports active citizenship, participation, and community spirit. As a volunteer, you can share your knowledge, learn new skills, and meet new people. The activities organized by volunteers at the library do not replace the work done by library professionals.
The second key objective in Espoo City Library’s strategy for 2024–2030 is lifelong learning. Learning takes place through, among other things, the library’s diverse range of events. At Espoo libraries, you can participate in organizing a wide range of activities by organizing a single event, exhibition, or recurring activity.
Volunteers organize activities such as dance evenings, yoga, discussion groups, meditation, story time, craft and sewing clubs, board game clubs, IT guidance, language cafés, and workshops. Other types of community activities include adult movie days and crossword puzzle groups. Many libraries also offer gaming opportunities, which are open to players of all ages and skill levels.

Give feedback!
The library involves its customers in developing its activities. You can give feedback to the library in various ways, and all feedback is read and, upon request, responded to, for example, on the library's notice board or by email.
Would you like to see a book exhibition on a specific topic, for example? Tell the library staff about your suggestion or submit your feedback via the feedback service, culture, library and festivals - Give feedback!(external link, opens in a new window)
Participation is an attitude and a way of acting. Welcome to join us in making the library a shared space!
