Our services

• You are responsible for applying for jobs.
• We are here to support you, especially at the beginning of unemployment.
• You will have regular meetings with your personal coach.
• You need to apply for a specific number of jobs (0–4) each month to receive your unemployment benefit. The number depends on your situation and work ability and is always agreed on together with the personal coach.
• The first time you forget or fail to apply for the required number of jobs, you will receive a reminder that will not affect your unemployment benefit.

The first three months of job-seeking are very important. During these months, we will maintain close contact with you.

• We will call you within five days after you have registered as a jobseeker.
• We will organise a face-to-face meeting within one week of our call. We will have a total of seven meetings, i.e. every two weeks on average. Some meetings will take place face-to-face, while others will be held over the phone and online.
• We will assess your situation, goals and needs for services.
• We will give you advice on how to apply for unemployment benefit.
• We will inform you of your rights and obligations as a jobseeker.
• We will refer you to support services if necessary.
• We will draw up an employment, activation or integration plan together with you.
• We will assign you a personal coach, i.e. an employee who will be working with you.

Our aim is to help you find employment during the first three months.

You have an obligation to look for work. It means that you will need to apply for a specific number of jobs each month to receive your unemployment benefit. You will discuss and agree on this number together with your personal coach.

• Most jobseekers are required to apply for four jobs a month. In some situations, the number may be lower or there may be no job search obligation. The number depends on your situation and work ability.

• You get to decide which jobs you want to apply for.

• Your job search obligation will be included in your plan, and your plan will be reviewed every three months.

You are entitled to unemployment benefit if you apply for the required number of jobs each month and follow your plan.

If you fail to apply for the required number of jobs or to follow your plan, you will first receive a reminder.

The reminder will not affect your unemployment benefit.

The purpose of the reminder is to remind you about your obligations.

 

If you fail to fulfil your job search obligation after receiving a reminder, you may be subject to a mandatory waiting period. The mandatory waiting period is a period during which you are not entitled to unemployment benefit.

The duration of the waiting period is 5 or 10 days.

If you repeatedly fail to fulfil your job search obligation, you may lose your unemployment benefit until further notice.

If you refuse a guaranteed job, you may be subject to a 45-day mandatory waiting period.

 

On the Job Market Finland website, you can look for suitable jobs and create a profile that will help you get suggestions for suitable jobs.

Through the ‘Oma asiointi’ service you can find up-to-date information about your situation and send messages to your personal coach.
