Matinkylän monitoimitalo / Youth center

Matinkylä community center or more familiarly, Monari, is an open meeting space where youth instructors are present for the youth.

Matinkylä community center aka Monari is an open meeting space for the youth, where youth instructors are present just for you. You can come over just to hang out and have a chat, or to participate in any of the many functions we have; arts and crafts, billiard, table tennis and gaming either on PS or PC.

Monari is a safer space where you can spend your free time. We are a drug- and alcohol-free space.

Down here you get to participate in planning our activities, so come on and give us your ideas about what you would like to do in Monari!

DURING AUGUST WE ARE OPEN ONLY ON FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS

Accessibility Information:

The main entrance to Matinkylä Monari is at street level. Upon arrival, please ring the doorbell located to the left of the door, and a staff member will come to open it for you. The doorway is 87 cm wide. The entrance has a stepped threshold, consisting of two steps, each 2 cm high.

As you enter the foyer, there is a door straight ahead leading to the hallway and another door on the left that leads directly into the main hall - Monari's "living room." On busy evenings, shoes left in the hallway may make it harder to pass through, but if needed, it's possible to access the coat racks via the hall for an unobstructed route. Staff can also move furniture to improve accessibility.

Most areas in Monari are accessible without barriers. However, the performance area and seating in the theater room are not fully accessible from inside. If needed, staff can open the back door located at the rear of the theater, which provides an accessible route to both the seating and the stage.

Monari has three emergency exits, two of which are located behind staircases and one at street level.

There are three gender-neutral restrooms at Monari, one of which is an accessible toilet. In addition, we offer four gender-specific restrooms for customers.

Depending on the day, the sound environment can be noisy. If needed, staff can guide you to a quieter space for rest and recovery. Most of the lighting in the space is adjustable, and staff can be asked to dim or reduce lighting in specific areas if needed.

Welcome!
