Street maintenance, situation on 20 December 2023

There are currently no staffing or equipment issues affecting our maintenance pace. We are prepared for the changeable weather in Espoo over the coming days. We wish everyone happy holidays and hope that our maintenance staff also have some time to relax.

We are doing normal winter maintenance work around Espoo. This includes preventing slipperiness, gritting and salting intersections, removing packed snow and transporting excess snow from some places. Maintenance work will continue throughout the winter according to the weather.

We have covered some of the waste bins along recreational routes and skiing tracks with plastic. The city empties waste bins less frequently in the winter, as some of the maintenance staff are tied up in snow removal. The waste bins must also be dug up from under the snow, which further slows down the emptying process.

We kindly ask you to only use the available waste bins. We are not able to clean up the surroundings of all the covered waste bins during the winter season.

Remember to wear warm clothes and weather-appropriate shoes. Also make sure that you and your pets wear reflectors.

Our customer service works closely with maintenance staff and informs them about the feedback received. Please note that sending us feedback will not speed up the ploughing of your street. All streets in Espoo are cleared in order, one area at a time, based on their pre-determined maintenance category.

If you can, also send us a photo of the site in question. Based on the photo, we will be able to assess the urgency of the situation, which will accelerate the processing of your feedback.
